I like that solution; would be nice if you could get an original sample that was pitched higher or lower. Most multisampled things get pitched samples from the original source at about 2-3 pitches per octave. (More or less depending on your anal capacity or the need of the sound; e.g. vocals don't transpose well, while soft strings do.) Just out of interest, Tascam released a free piano instrument that is made out of just ONE piano sample! It's more for geek showing off, but it uses impulse manipulation and other techniques to "stretch" the piano sound to be legit up and down the keyboard, and also replicates an valid velocity timbre. But that takes a lot of special technology and certainly isn't applicable to the EXS24. SampleTank has a Stretch feature that is more formant based then impulse based, but it can go a fairly good job at making one sample work across a wider range of pitches.
