Re: [exs] Really good orchestral for EXS 24 and EXS velocity switching...

2001-08-25 by Kaveh Cohen

George, with version 4.7 or above of LAP and EXS24, when importing Akai
samples, make sure the "merge" function is enabled at the bottom of the Akai
convert window when converting Akai volumes. This will then prompt EXS to
merge different velocity levels of the same patch which are separate presets
into one velocity switching preset. This function was not present in EXS
prior to version 4.7 of Logic.

Janne, as far as orchestral samples go, there are no native libraries. The
ones that convert the best are the Advanced Orchestra and the Miroslav
Vitous. The Kirk Hunter Virtuoso Strings are by far the weakest of the lot,
so I would recommend to stay away from them and invest your money in a
realistic library like those mentioned above. Another thing to consider is
the Roland Orchestral Family. EXS does not format convert Roland, however
using Bitheadz' Osmosis, which supports Roland deemphasis, you can convert
Roland patches to Samplecell, which can then be converted by EXS. I have the
Roland Orchestral Family converted in this manner into EXS, and am very
pleased.
