OK. Let me go back to first principles :-) There are two important
directories that have to be (or be symlinked into) the logic audio folder :
  1. Sampler Instruments
  2. Akai Samples

The first is where all the .exs definition files need to be. Whatever
folders you create under here appear in the flip menu as the hierarchy. .exs
files MUST be in here to be available as instruments.

Akai Samples is where Akai converted .aiff / .wav files get put by the
conversion system. Sadly the folder name for akai cd convert thing doesnt
work here - they just get dumped in the root of this directory. By some
(e)magic the EXS will find these files by name wherever you move them to on
the hard drive. I was surprised at this too.

What I suggest is clearing the AKAI Samples folder of all stuff, then after
doing a cd conversion, moving the converted samples into the .exs dir in a
subfolder. This keeps instrumnet definitions and samples together in one
place and avoids muddling samples from different sources.

Yes, EXS picks up on the file move as above automagically.

Not at all. As a techie I thought they'd have to be in a certain
place/structure and was very confused that it does the obvious thing....!

Perhaps I should edit this explaination into my FAQ - this aspect isnt
hugely clear...!
