It's like differentiating between 'being pregnant' vs. 'being a little bit pregnant'. You either have a licencse for the sample cd or you do not. In the privacy of your own home nobody is likely to care - but you still don't have a licencse. If you can live with that, hypothetically speaking of course, hey - more power to you. But that won't change the fact that you're technically in violation of a licencsing agreement as soon as you attempt to profit in any way from the original material.
