In fact, what I'm after is a way to control amplitude that is NOT midi volume. Midi volume is for setting the level of an instrument in a mix, not for expressive modulation of amplitude as in, for example, a string section playing with a loud attack, quickly decrescendoing, then slowly increasing back to the original level. After I've recorded this "performance" I then would like the option of changing the level of this instrument in the mix, using midi volume. > Does >HALion do what you are requesting? If not all, which elements does it do >well, that you discussed? It seems to me that Halion is set up for this. On the modulation page, "Amp amount" is listed as one of the destination parameters. All I'm talking about is the equivalent of "expression", cc #11, in the general midi spec. It's not a useless parameter, in fact, it's the most important parameter for musical expression! Much more musically basic than controlling filter cutoff, which everyone seems to fall all over themselves to offer. Am I the only one who cares about this? Also, from reading the manual, Halion seems very well set up to have multiple keymaps per program, accessible in many sophisticated ways, including gigasampler's midi note method. This strikes me as essential for dealing with the massive number of choices available these days for samples. Violins, for example. There are many different articulations possible, and the more I can have at my fingertips, the better I'm going to sound, and the easier it's going to be to make the music. Having to have a different instance of the sampler for each sound is just too clunky. If these features aren't forthcoming in exs24, I want to know as soon as possible, so I can get on with deciding on other platforms. I sure don't want to build an entire PC just to get these features.... When will we get more detail on the new features in v.5 ? > > From: Darcy Phillips <darclist@...> > > Reply-To: exs-users@yahoogroups.com > > Date: Mon, 28 Jan 2002 15:26:41 -0700 > > To: exs-users@yahoogroups.com > > Subject: Re: [exs] new exs with \logic 5? > > > > > >>> > >> I have been told by french support that exs will do streaming too with > logic > >> audio 5. > > > > > > I'm glad to hear that.
