IMHO, the bundled Akai conversion utility that comes with the exs-24
is okay if you only have 2 or 3 CD-Roms to convert. Otherwise, I
would recommend either Translator or CDXtract. The conversion
utility in exs-24 is extremely slow compared to these other
conversion programs.

Also, I found that there are many samples that come across with
clicks in them (where they don't have them on an Akai sampler) or the
loops are wrong. Incidentally, I also found this with some of the
CDXtract conversions when I was comparing it to Translator. I
believe that currently Translator is the best conversion utility
available at the moment. CDXtract isn't bad, don't get me wrong.
However, I feel that Translator is more accurate at its conversions.

If you were asking about a Mac version, it is not available for
either program yet but both companies say that one will be available
very soon. It is my understanding that both will work under Virtual
PC though I haven't tried it myself since I am already on a PC.

HTH,
