Exs Manager is a *free* Win98/ME/2K/XP utility for managing instrument files (and related samples) for Emagic Exs24 softsampler. The basic concepts are: 1) Instruments are never moved/copied/deleted. They are only updated (see: about used sample files location). 2) Instead, samples are scanned in selected HD locations, checked for redundancy (identical copies of the same sample data, also referred as clones) in various possible ways, copied to a destination directory, or left where they are, based on a number of options. You can create an independent sample set for each instrument (even if this mean having several copies of the same exact sample on the HD), or create sample sets where sample are shared as much as possible between instruments. ExsManager works using an algorithm that does not allow samples to be overwritten. Samples with same name (not necessarily same content) are stored to separate directories when filenames collide. 3) You can decide to delete unused samples, delete clone samples, delete unused sample folders (this last one feature is useful for "cleaning" folder structures when changing from "independent samples" to "shared samples"). 4) You can view the instrument/sample (cross-referenced) relationships. (i.e. which samples are used in a single instrument? or Which instruments use that single sample?) Complete sample paths and file sizes are shown. Instruments with partially missing samples are highlighted with a different color so you can check for completeness of instruments/samples sets. These missing-samples instruments can still be updated for the existing/found sample files. When loaded inside Exs24, the standard Exs24 sample search will happen for the missing samples only. You can download the program and read online docs at www.arcanoise.com/ExsManager/index.htm The hosting server is quite slow. Please be patient Enjoy!
