I thought a reply should be in order. Usually, after being part of good mailing lists like this one for a number of years, I usually ignore posts that either are complete falsehoods, or sound like someone who probably doesn't know their topic. That won't change, but I thought I should say something to this post. (Most of it is irrelevant, since the story the person claims happened 4 months before the release of the software. But I'm in the contestable mood, so here goes...) >After two years of waiting for the "coming soon" mac version, of >tranlator, I got an email stating that translator mac had been >released. That e-mail didn't come from us. We announced the release on May 19th, over one month ago. NAMM was in January, five months ago. >So I went to Chicken Systems booth at NAMM to see it run, >They never could get it to work, they blamed their mac which could not >stop crashing. I administered the booth - I was "dere." As all Mac people know, Mac's never crash. =) NAMM was no exception - the Mac never crashed. What "space" (I always wonder about people who go under pseudonyms and end up making these statements) may be referring to is that for the first day our monitor switch wasn't working correctly, and the Mac wouldn't turn on. Other than that, the Mac ran perfect, and Translator looked great. It didn't DO any translations, just like Kontakt in the NI booth didn't do much. It was for show, and that's what we said. >Instead they tried to get me to check out the pc >version, but I'd allready seen it the year before, when the mac >version was "coming soon." So I came back three days in a row, but >they wern't having any luck. Luck in what? The Mac worked on Friday, and very nicely showed itself off in showing directories, viewing CD's, etc. What you are saying is completely untrue, plus it's irrelevant since the program was far short of being released. It was released 4 months later. Should there NOT be differences??? >The guy who couldn't get his mac to work, was the one coding the mac >version, let me tell you, he did not >inspire any connfidece. I must of been hungry. =) But this never happened - the Mac was very cooperative, and we - actually, I - nicely showed everything it did at the time. I was absolutely clear that I was just showing the interface, just like Kontakt was. I was also the tallest guy in the booth by at least a foot, so I was quite a commanding presence. =) (If anyone understands this statement, let everyone else in on the joke.) >I don't kow about you, but when I buy software, I dont want to be a beta >tester. I dont want to have my >computer run like their buisness. Crashing. >Buyer be ware, >space Speaking from a person who signs his own name on his e-mails, and gets a better grade for "listserv spelling", I will tell you that this post is not accurate. Let's leave it as that, and talk about EXS. See other posts for fun stuff. Garth Hjelte Sampler User
