I'm just basing my expectation on what Apple did with the technology it bought to create iTunes and Final Cut Pro. to the best of my knowledge, the apps that were the backend for iTunes and Final Cut Pro are no longer being developed. I would be very happy if Apple let Emagic continue development, but I went through this before with Vision, and its no fun switching music apps. Personally, I think Apple would make out the best by letting Emagic continue to develop products for the Mac, while using its technology for Apple audio apps. whether people use Logic or Apple's app, they still make money.
