Not a bad idea at all. Should also be very easy to make in the environment. I could give it a shot if anyone's interested. Such an environment patch should have a setting for "number of zones" and something like "width per zone" and "lowest keyboard note" or something... The only drawback is that you'd have to create dedicated exs-instruments to work with it... OTOH, the advantage is that you would end up with all midi notes on a single track, instead of having them distributed over however many different tracks.
