Hey Jer, The EXS is loading the samples into ram. But not the ram allocated to logic. It's using the excess ram on your computer to load the samples. If you look at the "about this computer" (you know in the apple menu) you'll find logic is running in much more than you have allocated to it. In my case I had about 40 meg allocated to Logic but it was running in 253 meg...big samples. By the way the emagic site did mention something about real time HD addressing in 4.7. take a look. Lots of new stuff for EXS regards julie ------Original Message------ From: "HELP@..." <HELP@...> To: <exs-users@egroups.com> Sent: January 24, 2001 9:41:41 PM GMT Subject: Re: [exs] EXS new version release date??? Say the whole question. What about it? Are you asking if it does that? Or are you saying you want it to (behave more like Gigasampler)? I don't know what you want to know? If you are asking whether it currently does or not, I'm not sure. I had thought that it loads all samples in the song directly into RAM. But I don't think so, since I've mixed tracks with well over 20 or 30 megs of audio tracks running easily with 50MB of RAM allocated to Logic. To me that suggests that it does not rely on RAM to push the amount audio (and assumedly EXS samples). To me, RAM affects number of audio tracks, ASIO and other DSP, while hard disk performance affects audio quantity (total bandwidth of audio available to logic before it hits the mixer). Maybe I'm out of my league here, but those are my thoughts. Hope this helps.
