Here's the info from Gary Garritan's website:
VIRTUAL MAESTRO TOOLS for the EMAGIC LOGIC ENVIRONMENT by Roman Beilharz
In the Update package is a MaestroTools equivalent for the Logic Audio
Environment and requires Emagic Logic Audio to operate. Maestro-Tools
extends the capabilities of GigaStudio by intercepting and then
manipulating MIDI data to produce, for example, alternating bow strokes and
the ability to play in monophonic mode. Emagic's Logic Audio comes with a
programmable MIDI architecture, enabling the user to create special MIDI
features. Within Logic Audio, a user can accomplish most of the things
MaestroTools does, but without the need for a stand-alone program. Many
thanks to Roman Beilharz for producing the innovative programming. This
program is available in MAC and PC formats. More information is included in
the update package.

Bob,
From what I can gather, it seems to me that this is for people who control
Gigastudio from Logic, not users of the AKAI version of GOS (Garritan
Orchestral Strings). For one thing, there's no mention of EXS. Also, note
that the 'update package', where one can find this environment, is for GIGA
users.
I know that quite a few composers run Gigastudio from a PC and connect it
to their MIDI interface. It basically becomes another sampler connected to
your main computer (Mac or PC). It'll be interesting to see if the new
version of EXS makes it easier to integrate more of the GIGA format's
potential for expression...
