Re: [exs] how to speed up load time of exs-instruments ?

2002-08-02 by uswitalski@yahoo.de

ahh, thanks ben for this info.

i might know now why its all slow for me:

i moved the complete "exsdrive1" to "exsdrive2" (backup) and back somethimes
or reorganize the folder structure, so that migh be why even once resaved
files are slow again.

ok, so does the exs update the samplefileinfo upon loading it or do i need
to save the file?

thats not possible as far as i know.
if i create a folder upon importing a complete akai cd, only the .exs files
will be put inside there, the samples are thrown by volume into the
akaisamples folder ... i have to manually move them in a folder to ever be
able to reloacate them by hand.

im on MAC here.

BUT: why isnt`t there a "update all .exs files" command in the exs itself!!!

emagic! hey! cmon!

so my moral is:
there is no way of speeding up my libary!, other than loading 10.000 exs
instruments by hand to update the fileinfo and never move the folders again?
may i excuse myself: this su***!

but if anyone whats to jump in and show me a way towards the light of being
able to listen thru my sample collection ...

i thank you very much for your help,
i really apreciate it.
thanks
ulf.
