Have you folks realized that the 2 new flagship G4s can only be configured to run under OS X.2 and beyond? As I understand it, and I hope I'm wrong, the new blazing boys will not properly boot an OS9.x partition. Can anyone confirm this, as my info is coming from web security/graphics/network guys? If we have just managed to get things ironed out under 9.1 the majority of the stuff we're running has not been ported to OS X. I, too, want the new machines for plug instances, even on a G4 dual 500 w/ 640 megs of ram find very limited use of plugins for a full mix. (for the record, an ultra 160 scsi chain has bumped my track count way up, more than 64 tracks, and the disk i/o led in the system performance meter way down.) New machines may not be worth it yet... I'm interested if any lugger has info on this... >Murray McDowall <murraymc@...> wrote.... >This improvement in memory spec should boost plugin instances considerably -- >eg number of compressors/ Plat verbs /VST synths you can run.
