beginner needs EXS / score / general help

2002-08-18 by Phunk1

okay - so I've finally got all of my pieces working together, and now I'm
trying to get some thoughts out into Logic.....I've worked with MIDI before,
and I've been able to get some solid thoughts together, but now I'm working
with this EXS24 and its sample libraries.

My main question is - is it possible to *shift* the "notes" after you've
played them? I'm trying to lay down some drum tracks, lets say the high hat
specifically - In MIDI I can lay down close to a constant 4/4 high hat, and
then quantize it and/or physically move the MIDI block until I have a 4 bar
sample down and can loop it. (Did that make sense?)

With the EXS and samples, the information is in notes, not MIDI squares, and
I can't figure out how I can manipulate it.

Would someone be willing to hold my hand for a day or two and help me get
going here? (Or is there a solid tutorial on the Net?)

I know I sound like an idiot - but I feel like I'm very close to fruition.

thanks,
gary
