It's basically the same as editing midi. reording onto an EXS tracks creates a midi sequence with the same sort of data as traditional midi tracks. You can use all the conventional midi editors (matrix, score, event list, etc) to edit the material. You can quantize, loop, gate, etc via the sequence parameter box as with regular midi. You can cut, copy, paste, etc in all the conventional ways. The only signifigant way that soft synth/sampler data differs from mdi data is that some of the environment routing possiblities that exist for external midi gear are somewhat limited with virtual instruments. > > > With the EXS and samples, the information is in notes, not MIDI squares, and > I can't figure out how I can manipulate it. By "midi squares" do you mean a matrix editor view? If so, you can view soft instrument midi data in all the same ways. Just open up a linked matrix window and that should do it. > > Would someone be willing to hold my hand for a day or two and help me get > going here? You're making it harder than it really is. Just think of it as editing midi in all the ways you are already used to. > > I know I sound like an idiot Not at all. Working with soft instruments is a new "model" to grasp. But in many ways, it's not as different as you think. > - but I feel like I'm very close to fruition. You're closer than you think. -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com
