I recommend using 0bd for any Drum libraries. Backbeat sounds WAY punchier and slamming at 0 compared to -6. The EXS engine fattens up with hotter signals and there's no reason to be conservative, since it is very difficult to internally distort the EXS. You can always turn the level down on the channel, but turning up the channel level doesn't make it fatter (but 0db DOES make it fatter and puchier). best, -EP In a message dated 9/15/02 12:01:41 AM, technodork_2000@... writes: >In converting Akai discs to EXS24, or any other discs for that >matter, is it good as a general rule to use the -6db attenuation in >the EXS24 conversion window, or in CDXtract or other programs. > >I converted the AKAI version of Spectrasonics BackBeat >CD-Rom to EXS24 without the attenuation, and it appeared to >be entirely to loud to be useable well over 6 db of clipping on the >meters with the fader set to 0.
