Re: [exs] OT: Spectrasonics at AES?

2002-10-07 by Ned Bouhalassa

Well now that you mention it...

I don't know about Trilogy, but I've had Atmosphere beta in my computer for
10 days and I can tell you it is fantastic. Why? Well because Eric has an
excellent collection of analog and digital synths, so the sound of the
patches are varied, rich and high-quality sounding. He also has unique
programming chops, so the patches come alive, they're soooo fat.

Oh, and there's so many patches, I had to spend a couple of days to get
through them: it's got dark drones, and light swirly pads, moody strings,
evolving textures, sweeps, analog sync monsters, etc. And it's not only a
pad synthesizer (although that is its focus): the leads are superb. And of
course, you can tweak the sounds to your liking, as there's a multimode
filter, 2 ADSR enveloppes, moveable start-point, 4 LFOS, etc, etc. As well,
you can combine any 2 patches to create a very large number of variations
on the preset patches.

But, Ned, what does is it SOUND like???
MoogCS80AbsynthOberheimWavestationJupiterMaelstromDistortedReality in a
blender.

Check out Spectrasonics' web site for more info.

I think this is a perfect complement to Absynth.
