I agree completely. In the meantime I use two keycommands.
I select the sequence(s) that I want to loop and hit "L" which loops it and
then "Control-L" which turns loops into real copies. This takes about 1
second. Not bad for a workaround. 

If the "control L' is not active in your keycommands then go into  the
keycommands window and set it (or an alternative) up.

 (This is on PC   -- Mac commands will be different perhaps L then Command L)
