Re: [exs] [OT] Duplicating everything in a channelstrip within Logic

Thoughts from the mind of Sascha Franck, 06-11-2002:

:-) For the record: my remark referred to multitimbrality, while
your quote above (and the rest that I deleted) was about copying
mixers-- something entirely different. Just wanted to avoid possible
confusion...

Maybe, yes. If you would copy, say, the Track 1-5 objects, and
wanted to apply them in another song to the Track 6-10 objects, one
would need some sort of clever interface for that, true.
I think a sensible "in between" solution would be to have the ability
to save the settings of one channel strip as a kind of preset, just
like you can do with plugins. Then you could simply click a flip
menu in a channel strip, and call up the "Power Guitar" setting,
which would load an EXS guitar, Overdrive, Compressor, etc, with one
click.
Still a bit of work if you want to copy 40 channel strips between
songs, but 1) this probably doesn't ahppen all that often and 2) it
still beats having to manually recreate 40 channel strips.

I think my above suggestion wouldn't be difficult to implement, and
would take care of the problem you describe.

The environment as a whole could do with a big makeover by now. I'm
with you in fearing that it'll be a long time before we see anything
done about these matters...
