Giga articulation files are pretty much just the .gig file without the samples. I think they can contain samples but I haven't seen any with them. Whatever the case, you need the original .gig files for them to work. Most companies use it as a handy way to add updates to their usually huge .gig files in an easy downloadable way. It's not perfect - there is a third-party articulation variant and program at Best Service - check it out. Maybe one of the third-party convertor companies will do that and the other things you mention. Garth Hjelte Sampler User
