Maybe I was tired, maybe I was feeling a bit fresh. Nothing wrong with AKAI and, Joeri, you make some good points. Still, I certainly would value the EXS above the Unity, any day of the year. Ok... Hans Zimmer... touchy, touchy people. Hope I didn't step on any fans' toes. He's very talented and uses samplers like nobody's business, but I picked up the Gladiator soundtrack, mainly because of Lisa Gerrard, formerly of Dead Can Dance. Joeri & others: I definitely see your point in needing more than 16 tracks if you are isolating every drum sound. I believe we are supposed to get 24 VST instruments in Logic 4.7. We'll see. Take my original post with a grain of salt. I was responding to what I considered an over-the-top jab at the EXS from someone who really didn't seem interested in its strengths. AKAIs, especially the later editions, are amazing hardware and terrific work horses. If I were predominately outboard-gear based with a large automated mixer, I would definitely go for the latest AKAI. However, my studio is mobile, and I value the VST environment for which the EXS is well-suited. That is all I meant to convey--not trying to start a controversy here. -Jer
