I'd personally recommend .zip files. It may be a predominantly PC based
format, but is supported by OS9 and OSX versions of stuffit IIRC.

Failing that, is there any reason you cant quickly knock up a custom
installer application that uncompresses from whatever format itself and
doesn¹t rely on stuffit or whatever? Pretty easy...

P.S. I'd personally keep away from RAR as a format in general as its
normallly just associated with warez kiddies and isnt that widely supported
outside of that community.
