If appropriate please email me > privately. > > Thank You, > Vincent hi vincent. i got both 828 and multiface. the 828 has poor converters (imho) and adds some buzzing to the signal if trying to use the mic preams, well the rme has none so ... the rme has no soundmanager driver for mac os 9. this sucks! the 828 has very complete driver support under os 9 including a control strip that makes things easy to set. the rme got its "total mix" software letting you route signals from ins to outs withous any cpu usage. i found this quite handy on tour. only having to connect the rme and running the 828 thru the rme. so i'd only have to pass 8 channels to the local pa. the rme is very fagile. i lost quite a few pcmcia card connectors on tour, and it took rme 2 month one time to deliver a new connector! but you are going for the pci card, so this will not be much of an issue. the rme has wordclock in, the 828 doesn't. the 828 got adatsync in, but the only syncronizer i could find (besides an adat system) was a motu timepiece and that is expensive. i am missing wordclock in on the 828. its very important to me and a big missing on the 828. the 828 drops out sometimes. if the cpu hits high it mutes the outs for a moment. in previous driver versions it would crash, now it mutes and stays alive but, still this sucks. the 828 has an internal mains adapter. i like that for i gives me less cables and things to carry on tour. but i suspect the buzz on the inputs to be coming from that adapter. the rme has no analog in-out-indicators on the front panal. i miss that, and its a plus for the 828. i had a lot of trouble syncing the 828 to spdif or adat-optical. as a matter of fact, i gave up evertime and used the analog inputs with an external mic preamp. bottom line for me: rme does everything it says on the box. and it does it well. i love that. 828 is the usual lie about what it is supposed to be doing and what is actually usable. i would not buy an 828 again. hope this is of any help, cheers, ulf. __________________________________________________________________ Gesendet von Yahoo!
