I apologize if my assessment is incorrect, but I am truthfully sharing the
opinions of several advance users regarding the 2408. Even my equipment rep
suggests the Hammerfall and others over the 2408, based on his research.
Despite all this, you may be right. However, it deserves some scrutiny given
what I have heard. In support of your argument though, the DSP rating on
http://www.digitalnaturalsound.com/logic_dsp/ gives it high marks for ASIO
bandwidth, and that can be more important than latency in a lot of
situations. It's important to note that you will not notice much latency if
both your audio out and MIDI out are equally latent. You notice it more if
they are unequal, and some people hear latency when others do not...

...So I guess we're splitting hairs here. The 2408 is still a good value for
analog I/O, just not my top recommendation. -Jer
