Hi Colin,

I just ran into this exact problem. I had two totally different instruments in different folders called "cello" and each time I opened the song, the EXS chose the "first" one it found (which was the wrong one) in the main sampler instruments hierarchy.

So yes, having the exact same name for instruments is problematic. I renamed one of them and that solved it. All this in Logic 5.2  with just one of the cello isntruments instantiated in the song.
