Eli is talking about EXS *instruments* -- i.e. the .exs files in the Sampler Instruments folder, while I was talking (and you were too, I thought) about the *samples* used by the EXS instruments. Instruments have to have unique names, but samples can (I think) have the same name since, as I wrote before, the EXS is smart enough to distinguish like-named but bitwise non-identical samples.
