The 1st one shows how to use a single controller (like modwheel) to affect some VST(i) parameter. Connect a Monitor object to the EXS channelstrip and wiggle the EXS volume slider to see which Fader Event volume is, and use that to adjust the 1st tutorial to suit your needs.
