My guess is that because G4 Macs and Powerbooks come with Firewire, MOTU has the intention of making Mac a higher priority than Intel. Currently, most Intel machines do not come with Firewire, but it is an add-on card you buy for the PCI bus. Some manufacturers (Sony, Toshiba) do include Firewire in their laptops and desktops.
