Akai CDs can currently only be converted in OS9 and not in X. So
boot in OS 9, fire up Logic and open an EXS instance. Pick the "AKAI
import" option from (I believe) the Options menu. You'll then get a
window saying "waiting for akai cd". Only *then* insert the CD in
the computer. The rest will be obvious from thereon.
Inserting the CD prior to launching Logic, etc, will let the Mac OS
take over, and since Mac OS can't deal with Akai CDs, you'll indeed
get the 'disk unreadable' message, or some variation thereof.
