Is that something that the other > guys have or are they all pretty equal? No, just about everybody in the world is better at editing samples/patches than EXS24. It's the one MAJOR flaw of this application. Those of us who have been using Logic for a while don't mind so much, because we're just used to Logic's old-school sample editor (which is the same the EXS24 uses), but editing zones/groups in a complicated patch is a nightmare. It's not like it's unintuitive or anything. It's just a lot of busy-work sliding the mouse selecting and changing things individually. It's also pretty low-tech. The patch edit screen looks more like a form than an interface. Still, once you've got a patch together, you have this feeling that you know EVERYTHING that went into that patch. It just feels more "solid" to me than with other systems. And tweaking effects, modulating, and actually playing a patch once the zoning is done is so much nicer with the EXS24 than with other samplers (IMHO) that it all sort of balances out for me. Also, it's not as though eMagic doesn't know that the editor sucks (we've been telling them so for a year now :) ), so it's bound to be improved upon some upgrade or another. I feel the EXS24 is THE sampler to use if you're already using Logic. If eMagic would fix up the sample editor, it'd be worth switching to Logic just to use. :) > Yeah, it's only money, but yesterday was tax day, eh? ;-) On top > of the sampler though, there's the issue of sample libraries, unless > I can convert what I've already done... EXS24 imports Giga, SF2, and Akai stuff really well (note: there are still issues reading Akai-format CDs in OS X). Also, keep in mind that the Vienna Symphonic Library is being released in only two formats: Giga and EXS24. I'd say the EXS24 sample format is going places! Cheers, -Josh Emmons

Re: [EXS] Hi everybody. I'm new. Are there comparisons with other soft samplers?
