Sean,
IMHO, you should not store your audio files in the same place as your
System. Do you know about partitioning your hard-drive? You can divide your
hd into individual sections or partitions. This will keep your System
fairly clean, uncluttered, which will reduce the chance of fragmentation (a
process which can eventually 'confuse' your system or any partition, for
that matter).
My advice, if you can afford it, is to get a separate hard-drive for all
your audio needs. They're really not expensive anymore. Get an 80 gig or
something, divide it into 4 x 20 gig partitions (or whatever size you
like), and install Logic on one of them. All your Giga/AKAI/EXS sample
files can sit in your Logic folder, and the other partitions can be for
your mixes, and video stuff, etc.
