Have you played around with the new Project Manager in Logic6?  It does 
a VERY nice job of organizing and keeping track of not just songs, but 
also sample instruments and all the samples that go into those 
instruments.  It seems to me as though they are headed in the right 
direction (though it could still use some work... the interface is scary).
