Not being rude, but you left yourself open to that ;
- 60G is approx 100 CD's. Given the extortionate (sorry Eric ;-) !) price of
sample CD's, most people dont have that much cash to spend on them. In fact
most musicians I know don't *need* that much source material...
- People that buy CD's normally think in terms of the number of CD's they
have. People that download images think in terms of the number of Gigs they
have archived on a drive.
- Most people that have that kind of budget for equipment already know the
answer to that question or know that they can find it out themselves by
browsing the list archives...

Given the above, apologies for my getting the wrong impression. If you're as
you say you are, great. Just dismiss it and move on.

Sorry? Did I sign my mail with the wrong name again? *slap* Must have been a
long week.

The built in translator in both ST and Logic are flawed. Still. If you're
serious about doing it, you want to audition all the converted audio samples
after conversion to verify they're ok.

Generally they are, yes. Note that you're limited by the fact that only
Translator is availiable to run under OSX. No reason why you couldnt run
CDXtract under OS9 to just do the conversions though. Aside from the fact
that Logics converter tends to put digital artifacts into audio files,
Translator seems to be pretty reliable, and has more options for how you're
converted files are organised which is most useful. Plus you're more likely
to get a personal response and a quick fix for any bugs from Chicken Sys or
CDXtract. Both companies read this group and are very helpful to purchasers
of their software. Unfortunately you narrowly missed a group buy of
Translator on the LUG. You could have got a cheap deal on it.

Are you sure you don't have a teeny-weeny chip on your shoulder?
