Samples (aif, wav, etc) can be stored anywhere, but the instruments 
(*.exs) should be put in the Sampler Instruments folder inside the 
Logic application folder.  Are you sure you did that right?  If so, 
what else did you try -- where did you put the samples/instruments... 
A bit more information would be handy.
