Samples (aif, wav, etc) can be stored anywhere, but the instruments (*.exs) should be put in the Sampler Instruments folder inside the Logic application folder. Are you sure you did that right? If so, what else did you try -- where did you put the samples/instruments... A bit more information would be handy. -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com/

Hi! I too, have been having trouble getting my ESX to read samples, and yes
I HAVE put the files in the sample instrument folder. It just won't find
them either directly off the CD or when I copy them onto my hard drive. I'm
on OS 9.1 on a Mac. When I looked up under the Emagic website help section
it says one possible problem could be with the extension attaached to the
DVD/CD rom drive on your computer. It says to use extension 1.3.9 that comes
with Mac OS 9.0.4 NOT version 1.4.0 that is installed by Mac 9.1. How do I
go about checking this out? ( I can find the extension in the systems folder
but it doesn't give a number after it) I still think it's another problem as
it won't read off my SCSI drive CD burner either.
anyone got any clues????
Regards , Gosh girl

You can also open the Extensions window and then pick 'View Options' from the Finder's View menu. Check the 'version' checkbox and the window will show all versions for all files. Re: the 1.4 extension -- that was a problem when accessing mixedd mode CD-ROMs. Aren't you confusing 2 different problems (see FAQ 18.15)? -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com/

Re: the 1.4 extension -- that was a problem when accessing mixedd mode CD-ROMs. Aren't you confusing 2 different problems (see FAQ 18.15)? I think my CD IS a mixed mode one, although I'm not exactly sure what is meant by that - it has files for other formats, eg Kontakt and HALion as well as samples in both aif and wav form. Does this make it mixed mode? Anyway, thanks to you I discovered that the DVD/CD extension that I have is 1.4.7 so wouldn't mind trying to change that as I'm running out of other ideas as to what the problem could be. Should I just get that off an OS 9 systems disk? Any other ideas as to what it should be? Is it worth reinstalling the ESX? Thanks for your help Goshgirl [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Does this make it mixed mode? Not sure -- could be. Usually mixed mode refers to CDs with files _plus_ audio on them. Just give the 1.3 extension a try to see if that solves the problem. >Should I just get that off an OS 9 systems disk? Any other ideas as to what >it should be? Is it worth reinstalling the ESX? The EXS can't be reinstalled as it's just a part of the Logic application -- it's embedded in Logic and the code only makes it accessible. As for the 1.3 extension download address: that too is in the FAQ, item 18.15. The FAQ address is in the footer of this message (with some more relevant info). At the very least you could _read_ the FAQ when pointed to it, couldn't you? :-) -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra h @ k n o w a r e . n l Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com/

I have found that sometimes Logic has gotten corrupted, and trashed all app, prefs, anything Logic, and reinstalled for my CD again. It has been known to help, and doesn't take too much time. One thing, when you remove your Logic prefs file, just place it on the desktop. It has all your key command in it, and when you make you "clean" version, you can reload these..
