Most of the digital crackling that I'm experiencing is due to buffer size settings. I tend to keep them small while tracking (24/96) for latency so I have to put up with cracks and farts. Then during mix down I set them higher which allows the audio card to function better so there are no cracks and farts. It all has to do with buffer settings. I'm hoping that with the G5 I won't have to worry about this anymore. I'm on a Dual 800 with 1.5 gig ram, Logic 6.1, OSX.2.6.
