thanx, but that is what I have been doin, just can't get it perfect, so I opted instead to make the samples 8 sec long, as were the original mellotron tapes, I think that will solve my problem, thank you ;-) On a fine day, 05-07-2003, mathiaston wrote: >Hi everyone, new to this board, I have been recording my own samples >from my classic keys module , and started with a mellotron sound, >problem I encounter is finding a loop point of entry and end so I get >no popping, am using exs24 II and logic 5.5.1 have searched on their >page , in my books and now on here, some of the samples loop fine, >but some don't and I know it has something to do with the crossfade >point, however , I can't quite get it, any ideas??? In the EXS editor, switch on the 'loop' parameter for each zone you want to loop. Then click on the 'E' to the right of the loop checkbox. This opens the sample in Logic's Sample Editor, where you'll see 'Ls and 'Le' triangles (start and end of loop). Make sure 'search zero crossings' is checked in the Sample Editor's menu. Now just try to find good loop points by trial & error, by dragging the Ls and Le triangles left or right. This is just a matter of patience. It's a pity Logic doesn't have some sort of smart editing feature for this. Back on the Atari I had a piece of software that would left you view the loop end and start (in that order) side by side, in close-up, so you could make a decent visual guess as to which points would be good for looping. Something like that would come in very handy -- or even just the ability to open multiple Sample Editor windows with the same file, so you could zoom in on both start & end of the loop simultaneously.
