You can convert Giga using the sampler itself, just like you do SoundFonts.
There are two other 3rd-party convertors that do the trick too, while
providing better conversions and additional features

CDxtract www.cdxtract.com
Translator www.chickensys.com/translator (supports the rare ESX format as
well as the normal EXS one)

Quick digression: I can understand people _SAYING_ ESX instead of EXS (they
do so all the time), because, at least for Americuns, it's far easier to
say phonetically. But writing/typing it? I don't find it instinctively
easier to type. Yes, another "why is that?"

Maybe there could be a special ESX-24 sampler where it plays all the
samples backwards.

That's one of the things that the 3rd party convertors does, allows you to
convert single/multiple Presets or Instruments.

In order for EXS (oops, I mean ESX) to see the .exs instrument in the popup
menu on the spaceship, it has to be in the Sampler Instruments folder in
the Logic folder, or linked/aliased to it. (With the Mac, putting an alias
to another folder is an easy way to do this.) You can move your .exs files
around anywhere within these folders without penalty or injury.

The samples are a different story. The .exs files use a path system to find
the samples to load when the .exs file is loaded. So if you move these
samples, the .exs files can't find them and EXS (I mean ESX) goes an looks
for them, with an additional danger of not even finding them if conditions
are right (or wrong).

Use the Project Manager in Logic 6, if you have it, this helps resolves
things. There's also a freeware program called EXSManager for PC you can
download, and also for PC the Translator program (this feature is PC only
for now) you can also fix these sample references.

Q: Is this in the manual, or in the FAQ?
