I can't exactly correct you, because I have only the EXSP so can't compare
the two, but my understanding is that the only differences are that the EXSP
cannot create instruments from samples, and that it is multi-channel. I
remember researching this when I first purchased it, and was told that if I
wasn't going to be creating my own instruments, then the EXSP would do
everything else just like the EXS.
If it helps any, I have uploaded a screenshot of the EXSP to the PHOTOS
section of this group so you can compare sliders, etc. with your exs.

I don't think the EXSP transition would be as smooth as one could hope. The
main reason being that many modulation features are missing on the EXSP.
Can't say exactly what will be missing, but any heavily modulated EXS pgm's
will definitely sound wrong on the EXSP. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone and
maybe i'll get the EXSP myself :o)

Subject: [EXS] EXS vs. EXS-P
Hi all,
I see now that an AU version of the exsp24 is available. I am a
recent convert to Logic from DP, but I still have clients who are
DP-ers (and so I have to use it from time to time). I have a rather
large collection of custom instruments for the exs and I'm
wondering if there is seamless translation from the exs to the
exsp. , ie are there any aspects of the playback parameters
(velocity, filters, key switches) which would cause variants in
playback between the two different versions. Just to be perfectly
clear: when I load a patch created in the exs into the exsp will it
sound and behave the same?? Thanks.
Steve
