Akai ftp site is back online

Akai ftp site is back online

2003-08-26 by mandcmiller

This might be old news, but It seems that Akai's ftp site is back
in business. I downloaded the Splendid Grand last night and it
only took 8 hours. AMAZING!

Now that surely must be great news for all those who've tried in vain
over the past months (and sent me private mail about the
corresponding instruments on my site). So: great news, and not old
at all. Thanks for sharing.

When did it ever go offline?
Ive been slowly and painstakingly downloading the entire S5000 library here
at work over the last two months and aside from running like its on a 56k
modem, has worked fine..

Ever since I put the instrument-files on my website, I've received
heaps of email from people running into password/login dialogs at the
akai-site and not being able to get in as an anonymous user.
Likewise here in the group many complained that the site was
offline... Strange that you had no problems (aside from the
horrendous speed).

Yeah it seemed to work ok for me.
The last couple weeks when I finished up the last two volumes, it finally
moved up to about 500kbps or so.. Not too bad.

As for the username/password yeah that acted funny too. I used WSFTP from
work (use PC's at work no macs) and just used username: Anonymous email:
blank@....

Now I just gotta get some time to go copy the two cds over to my Mac and
play with em in Logic!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
