optimum set-up with TiBook 500

optimum set-up with TiBook 500

2003-08-30 by kiermyer

Hello, I've just joined and happy to be here!

I have just gotten the PMI Bösendorfer from Michiel Post and it
seems just fabulous. Only thing is, I can;t use it!

I suppose that it is just too heavy for my system. So...please
gove me advice. I want to learn how to use samples kike this. I
have a TiBook 500 running OSX 10.2.6 with 768 mb ram. I'm
using Logic Platinum 6.2 with the ESX24II. I am storing the
samples on external 7200 oxford 911 drives (not sure of the
caches).

Any expert recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Franklin

Have you tried playing with the virtual memory settings in EXS? If you
set disk drive speed to slow and recording activity to extensive you
will get the maximum RAM buffering. Also, under sampler preferences,
do you have sample storage set to 32 bit float? This will take up some
more RAM but should yield better polyphony.

Forgive me if these suggestions have been mentioned already.... I only
skimmed this thread...

actually these specific setting shave notbeen mentioned before.
The virtual memory has been mentioned but not the optimum
settings. I will try these.
