Multiple instances of same monophonic EXS Instrument?

Multiple instances of same monophonic EXS Instrument?

2003-10-07 by Paul Smith

Using the Vienna Symphonic Library, I thought I would be able to
achieve polyphonic behavior by using two instances of the same
monophonic EXS instrument (on different tracks and as different
audioinstruments). However, playback still behaves as a single
monophonic instrument.

i.e.,

Track 1 - EXS Legato Clarinet A (AudioInstrument 1)
Track 2 - EXS Legato Clarinet B (AudioInstrument 2)

... sounds the same as Clarinet A and B played on the same (monophonic)
track.

Other than freezing track 1, the only workaround I have found involves
using separate files for track 1 and track 2. These are both not very
good solutions. Any ideas?? Am I doing something wrong?

Someone asked the same question on the VSL forum the other day, and
the solution is to make a copy of the program (not the whole thing,
just the program) and rename it something else - like the default
"copy of blabla" when you use command/D. EXS is trying to save your
resources by not loading the same thing twice.
