EXS enviro questions.

EXS enviro questions.

ok, here's what I'm trying to do:

I want to have a "drum kit" mapped to GM layout as an instrument in
the arrange window. BUT, I want to be able to easily change the
individual sample that is being used for any component of the kit.
By "easily" I mean, not by having to stop playback, or even point to
the file representing a sample in a finder type window.

My proposed solution was this:

I created EXS 24 audio instruments for each of the components of a
kit such as kick, snare etc... and into each instrument I
chromatically loaded up to 50 or so different samples of that
component starting at C1.

I then created a mapped instrument which would be accessible from the
arrange window and piped it's output into fader controlled
transformers which filter out the GM midi notes corresponding to a
drumkit component and send them to the right EXS instrument and allow
me to transpose by semitones using a fader on playback.

Theoretically in this way I should be able to fluidly switch samples
with a fader and even could do it musically, sending a set of control
values to switch kits or randomly continuously changing kit elements
for some weird effect.

I was able to accomplish this when I had samplecell years ago, but
EXS doesn't seem to be able to do it. I put monitors everywhere and
it seems really weird that sometimes the notes make it through the
mapped instrument and transformers to the EXS objects, and sometimes
they dont and I don't know why. Is there anything i am doing wrong or
that I should know? Why doesn't this seem to work???

Thanks for any help,

Josh
