Major bug, randomly changing instruments

Major bug, randomly changing instruments

2003-10-28 by Remco Muntz

I'm experiencing regular, spontanous patch shifts. I'm working on a mix
right now and all of sudden (haven't even touched the track) the bass
and another instrument has changed into another instrument! This means
I have to prey I know what the sound was, otherwise I can go searching
again for the right sound. This happens once in a while (maybe once a
week or two weeks). It screws my mix up totally. I'm on a deadline now
and this means I have to spend precious time trying to find the old
sound again. The EXS changes the sounds at random. This also means that
at any time my precious mix can get screwed up, if it's a soft sound I
might not even notice it straight away.
This is unworkable. A major bug, if you ask me. Is this a known problem?

I have never experienced this problem. My guess is that perhaps you are
accidently pressing on a key that selects the next instrument in the
EXS. Go in your Key Commands list, and check to make sure there's no
key assigned to Global Commands -> Next EXS Instrument.

Good luck!

I've experienced this too. Searching and deleting duplicate patches
(patch names) solved the problem here.

There is a utility called File Buddy out there that is tremendous
help in cleaning out large sample libraries (well, large file
collections in general). http://www.skytag.com/filebuddy/

I've just cleaned my 40 GB library and 12000 instruments. Took about
3 hours. As always: Make backups first!

I have selected the highest note on my keyboard to go to next
instrument, but the sound is chosen randomly. So, it's not the next
instrument, but aanother one (not even in the same folder.

Thanks.
