EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

Dear experts ;O)

Is there any possibility to make program changes with EXS instruments? What
I need is: I have a track in Logic - e.g. Strings - and want to switch
between pizz and arco without changing tracks (it's very unpractical having
two or more different tracks for one instrument). I know how to make program
changes with other instruments (e.g. GIGA-Studio) but can't find a solution,
how to make this with EXS (program changes do not work, channel changes do
not help.).

Help me please!

The Emagic instruments don't respond to program changes 
unfortunately.  One way to do what you want to do is: merge the two 
programs into one new EXS program (open both in the Instrument 
Editor, copy all in one instrument, paste in the other, save under a 
new name).  Now use key-switching or controller-switching to switch 
between the different layers of the program -- see the 'select by' 
parameter in the group-section of the instrument editor.  Make sure 
both instruments have their own group (i.e. all zones from the 1st 
instrument are in group-1, and all zones from the 2nd instrument are 
in group-2). Then set up the select-by parameter for the groups 
according to taste.

Dear Hendrik,

thank you very much for the advice. The trick you're talking about works
fine. The only problem left is: my strings already have 2 groups (layers for
p-samples and f-samples Xfadet with ctrl#1). I can't find any possibility to
assign one sample to two different groups (one for switching between the
p/f-samples and one for switching between the pizz/arco-samples). Do you
know any possibility to enable both colour changes in one instrument ? Would
be great!
