I think it's wonderful....I had duplicate samples all over the place..cleared out literally gigs of space and organized it all... julie On Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at 05:28 PM, bigbaby955 wrote: > anyone here using it? is it worth it? what is the real benefit? > have tons of libraries(over 110 gigs) will i benefit? > > > > ____________________________________________________________________ > EXS* Users Group > - To UNSUBSCRIBE: email exs-users-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com > - EXS/Logic FAQ: http://logicfaq.omega-art.com/ > - Free legal samples: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/exs-users/links/ > - To contact list admins, email exs-users-owner@yahoogroups.com > > <image.tiff> > > Yahoo! > >anyone here using it? is it worth it? what is the real benefit? >have tons of libraries(over 110 gigs) will i benefit? Yes. Yes. Organization of your sound library, deletion of duplicate samples, faster, stabler and more efficient than the project manager. Yes. I have about 9000 exs instruments and about 86000 samples. I organized the sampler instruments by category, manually, then used exsmanager to organize the samples in an identical structure. I slimmed my samples down by about 15000 by sharing duplicates, and everything is easy to find. Its a wonderfully implemented piece of software. Too bad you missed the group buy. But its more than worth it even at full price. I have a more modest set of samples (more in the 10G than the 100G range). Even so, I've recently become a fan of the Redmatica release. I even upgraded operating systems for this and one other reason (from 10.1 to 10.3). Once installed and run for the first time, the most immediate benefit was the loading time in EXS for samples. I had already noticed an annoying 10s or so delay when loading most samples into EXS. After running EXS manager, sample loading was nearly instantaneous. I'm not yet convinced the sample duplication was alleviated or that the file organization makes much more sense, but that may well be due to my lack of knowledge of how to use the features. Cheers, Larry

The only thing you must be careful ; when you want to see/work/remove the duplicates, you must use the slower options, if you check on only the beginning of the sample you may have the same sample twice in one of your lib but one may be longer than the other. Mine is over 50GB, and it became a real pain in the butt waiting for sounds to l= oad in and for the program to start (because every time Logic starts it performs the '= refresh menu' function). Once I ran OSX Manager, things were back to normal - the loading time is pr= etty much negligable. It's a real time-saver. Cheers, Damir
