Now my question is how do I use the MIXtended drums ( XXL > version ) in multichannel mode...does anybody know? Here's is the basic procedure: 1. Load the mixtnded kit into a multichannel instance of EXS24. 2. Open the instruement you are working with in the instrument editor - you can check the assingnment of the various groups to auxillary outputs. Assign the various groups to the extra outputs which the Multichannel version offers if they aren't already assigned. 3. Create a bunch of AUX objects in the audio mixer. Assign the extra outputs of the Multichannel EXS24 instance you loaded the mixtended kit into as the inputs of the AUX objects. Regards, Murray

I hope this isn't too off-topic (EXS), but I think someone here can help. Any help is welcome I like to use quicktime piano as a sketchbook instrument when composing. No decisions are made for instruments at that time. (I also play live instruments , whose sound inspires composition). I use the quicktime piano because it sounds ok, and is good for sketching harmonies, before voice decisions are made. Well, in a major backups for an OS transplant to OS X I lost some settings. I cant for the life of me get quick time to work, yet It works in other application like Finale, and Myriad's Harmony. However, I prefer to use just the one programme, Logic audio, even for this kind of sketch, so that I can later extend the work with EXS instrumentation and also, to keep my brain intact, which can subtely shatter like glass, given all the interfaces I might use. I don't load larger EXS instruments for the purpose, as I have limited computing power and like to compose by bouncing off my live instruments in my studio, whilst also seeing to business applications: I have calendars and email and browsers, and even A rapid internet chess game going at this time too. This is what I did, and what fails: I am not using OMS. In the 'environment' I created a multi instrument and hooked it to an internal instrument, 'Apple Quicktime'. When I click on the quicktime synth icon, I get a dialogue box with a small piano. THis actually triggers quicktime's voices. But when I link a keyboard in the environment , or select a midi track with a quicktime channel, I get no response. My audio instruments, EXS, and midi instruments work fine from my environment. My midi configuration is 'modem', which incidentally serves the serial, printer port when linking synth instruments (rather than printer port). I am using Logic Audio Platinum V4.5 MAC OS9 (Of course I need a second macintosh, as well as DSPs, and that is my aim too) Regards, John Plum
