Newbie EXS24P question

Newbie EXS24P question

I'm trying to help a buddy out who bought the 'P' version of EXS on my 
recommendation and is now having problems.

I told him how I load sounds into EXS24 (full version), but it seems the wa=
y the Player 
version works is different... he's just bought the EXCELLENT Mamsjö Grand P=
iano 
library in Giga format and neither of us can work out where the darn thing =
should 
reside on his hard drive in order for EXS24P to 'see' it.

He's using Logic 6.3.2 on a G5 and would go out and buy the full version of=
 EXS if 
Logic Pro wasn't just around the corner...

Any help appreciated.

Macintosh HD; Users; Shared;EXSP24Samples;EXS24Samples.

Took me a while to get it too!

I'm not sure the P version imports Giga instruments, but I am sure it 
doesn't do disk streaming. Can you load the Mamsj\ufffd into RAM? If not, 
you may be SOL.

By the way, I don't think Apple took large sample libraries into 
account when they decided to include the P version with Logic 
Express. $300 to be able to use a second machine for libraries that 
are larger than one machine can handle would be totally reasonable, 
even if you do have to do some ridiculous stuff to get Logic to 
behave as a stand-alone sample player. But the P version won't work.

A rack of XServes would be great for this. Instead, people like me 
are buying Windows machines like they're going out of style!

Well now, that IS bad news, but thanks for the insight; saves mesing with it any more. 
Guess he''l just have to hold out for Pro and the full EXS.

How exactly are you utilizing these Windows machines? You mean by installing and 
using GigaSampler?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
