I get this list in digest form. The last digest I received had three messages. All three were advertising either software, hardware or sounds for sale. Two were from companies and one was a private sale. Is this acceptable for people to be posting this stuff to the list? -- Charles

I personally don't mind. This list is low traffic enough that it's not bothersome. And I like being in the loop as to current special offers on related products (sample CDs, etc). -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com

I agree with both sides. I would like to know what is going on and who has new products, but i think for the people that do not like to get these ads......as a polite gesture, the ones placing the ads should do something to let people know it is an ad. like a subject line with the the letters AD in the front. So, if you chose not to look, you do not have to..... so it looks like this... [EXS] AD - New Sample CD Just a thought.....

Since this is such a sample-related list I don't see any problems with advertising new sample CDs that came out, or sales, but trying to sell other products like other plugins or hardware synths etc does seem a bit over the line to me. We've never really had this problem in the past as far as I can recall, so I'll update the list policy to reflect the changing times of advertisers gone wild... Best wishes Jeremy Martin, list admin

I second that. We shouldn't be too scared for a little advertisement for new developements and profits that are all of our interest. Rob

Please accept my apology if you were offended by the advertisement. I was merely providing an attractive offer to customers of sampled instruments. I have benefited tremendously by the Equim/Firium group buy that originated on this forum as well as the CDXtract group buy and Redmatica's EXSManager OSX Pro. These kind of things are of great use to many of us, and if I have to endure an ad or two to get in on these things, I don't mind. James

Ahw, don't make too much of it. The S/N ratio of this list is still extremely good imo, so who cares about the occasional (almost always relevant) ad? If 2 people complain out loud, and 200 don't care in silence... Well, you get the picture. Just another 2 non-commercial cents... -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra h @ k n o w a r e . n l Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com/

You might consider not using all caps when making such announcements, as that's seen as shouting by most people and can sometimes give an offensive edge to a message that might not be there otherwise..
